July Family Kindness & Patriotism Checklist

Small ways to celebrate love for your country and your neighbors all month long
Small ways to celebrate love for your country and your neighbors all month long

Be a neighbor hero

Wave and say hi to someone new on your block.☐ Leave a small potted flower or note on a neighbor’s doorstep.

Offer to help an elderly neighbor bring in groceries.

Get creative with patriotic fun

Make red, white, and blue paper chains or painted rocks to decorate your front steps.

Draw big chalk hearts and stars on your sidewalk with messages like “We love our community!”

Create a handprint flag craft as a family keepsake.

Thank a local helper

Bake cookies or write thank-you cards for firefighters, police officers, nurses, or your mail carrier.

Take a picture of your family delivering the treats — a sweet memory of giving back.

Care for local parks & spaces

Go on a “trash treasure hunt” to pick up litter at your favorite park.

Bring birdseed or build a simple homemade bird feeder.

Celebrate simple joys together

Have a backyard picnic with watermelon slices and a silly family game.

Watch fireworks (or simple sparklers safely) and talk about what makes you proud to live where you do.

End the night by sharing one thing each family member is thankful for.

Bonus: Kindness ripple

Let your child come up with ONE act of kindness for the family to do this month — then do it together and talk about how it felt.

Keep the spirit going

Take pictures of your family’s July adventures and share them with us on social media or email — we’d love to see how your children are shining their kindness and love for our community!
